In this tutorial I will be teaching you how to give your server more RAM (or power) so that you can run more mods on it, have more people join and ease lag.
IMPORTANT: DO NOT EVER ALLOCATE MORE RAM TO ANYTHING THAN YOUR COMPUTER HAS.
eg. if your computer has 4gb of ram you can not allocate 10gb of ram to your server because there isn't that much available. I would recommend always leaving at least 1 or 2gb of ram alone so that the rest of your computer works not just your game.
Instructions:
1. Open your "server folder" and rename "forge-versionnumber-mcversion.jar" to "forge.jar"
2. Right click and click "new" and then "text document" name it start.bat (deleting the .txt at the end)
3. right click on "start.bat" and click "open with" and then "notepad"
4. In the window copy in the text at this link: http://1drv.ms/1dXcFPP
5. you can change the text after echo to say whatever you want, it doesn't actually change anything...
6. If you don't want to have the normal Minecraft server GUI coming up copy this text instead: http://1drv.ms/1B0b3Pi
7. These start programs allocate the server 2GB of RAM to the server.
8. If you want to allocate more or less then change the "-Xmx2048M" and "-Xms2048M" to however Megabytes of RAM you want to allocate to your server, though 2gb should be enough.
9. Now to start your server just double click on "start.bat"
10. Enjoy playing on your lag free server!
